Jamie Lee Curtis, born on November 22, 1958, is an American actress, producer, and children’s author renowned for her work in the horror and slasher genres, earning her the title of “Scream Queen.”
She has also excelled in comedy and has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a BAFTA Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and nominations for an Emmy and a Grammy. Curtis made her television debut in a 1977 episode of the NBC drama Quincy, M.E. and rose to fame with her film debut as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978). She continued her horror legacy with films like The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train (all in 1980), and Road Games (1981). Her versatility shone in other notable roles in Trading Places (1983), Perfect (1985), A Fish Called Wanda (1988), James Cameron’s True Lies (1994), Freaky Friday (2003), Knives Out (2019), and Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), the latter earning her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. She has been married to British-American filmmaker Christopher Guest since 1984.
